last weekend, we had the fun experience of taking lily to the harvest home parade and fair. this cincinnati tradition is well over a hundred years old. i remember going there as a child and even volunteering with my youth group. we started the festivities by going to the parade on thursday night. none of us were ready for how long it was going to be! i was a little concerned at first that lily wasn’t going to like it too well, as an old time vehicle (which was leading the parade) was setting off a loud cannon that would periodically boom on the parade route. it scared lily and she immediately was crying her eyes out. thank god it passed and then all was well. there were so many people in this parade… dance groups, marching bands, local politicians, and veterans… the last group making me teary. overall, it was a blast! on saturday we went to the fair. lily was looking forward to it all day… that’s all that she would talk about! we had so much fun. riding on ponies, having our faces painted, playing games, eating junk food, checking out the horses and exhibits and finishing it off by dancing and “signing” (see video below!) while listening to a great cover band. we were sorry that we had to leave and will absolutely look forward to going again next year!
